REESE — The Village of Reese is revving up its engines for the sixth annual Reese Caro Show on Aug. 22.
Since the event began, the car show has grown from 60 cars to more than 130 cars in recent years.
Festivities will be found once again in the downtown area from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. with arts and crafts, car games, kids games and much more.
From Pompei Pizza Factory to Mike Sahr Crop Insurance, M-81 will be blocked off beginning at 7 a.m. and will remain blocked off until 6 p.m.
Events include a “Night Under the Stars.” The family-oriented movie “Cars” will be shown at the Mike Sahr Crop Insurance Building, sponsored by Zimmer & Associates.
There will also be a kids’ pedal pull from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., sponsored by Bader Brothers and Janson Equipment in the Sahr plaza parking lot. Participation classes include girls and boys three and four years old, five and six years old, seven and eight years old and nine and ten years old.
Other kids activities include a big wheel race, bubble gum blowing contest, bike decorating contest, face painting, chalk art, hula hoop contest and watermelon seed spitting contest, also from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Frankenmuth Credit Union and Rocket Bowling Bar and Grill are sponsoring “The Mysterians”, who will play from 12 p.m.-3:30 p.m. in the gazebo. Pompei Pizza Factory will be serving breakfast and ice cream from 8-11:30 a.m.
The TrackSide will be having a chicken barbecue and DJs on Friday and Saturday nights. The Rocket will also have a BBQ rib dinner and brats available, along with entertainment after the car show.
There will also be arts and craft vendors on hand offering jewelry, floral arrangements, produce, lawn ornaments, bird houses, bird feeders, Avon products, crochet items, tupperware, Initials Inc., American Girl doll clothes and much more.
Registration on the day of the event begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until noon. An awards presentation will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
