Crash claims couple

CARO — A family is mourning the loss of two very special people this week after a tragic crash took their lives Saturday afternoon.

Lynda Galloway, 49, and Joel Galloway, 48, of Decker will be remembered for their never-ending love for family. The couple, who were married for around 30 years, had four boys and would do anything for them.

“They were both very dedicated to their family,” said JoAnn Wilcox, a sister of Lynda Galloway. “Lynda would be there for anyone, no matter what.

“And Joel loved his boys.”

The couple were killed Saturday afternoon while driving northbound on Deckerville Road in their Chevrolet Cavalier.

According to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department, Harold Parker, 78, of Owendale was driving northbound on Hurds Corner Road when he failed to stop for the stop sign and struck the couple’s vehicle.

Lynda Galloway was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Her passenger, Joel Galloway, also passed away at the scene.

“Both of the Galloways were wearing seat belts,” said Tuscola County Undersheriff Glen Skrent. “Her belt ripped in half, that’s why she was ejected.”

Parker was transported to Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City for minor injuries.

Sgt. Scott Jones of the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by other members of the department, the Michigan State Police, MMR Ambulance and the Caro Fire Department.

Skrent said the Galloways were unfortunately at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

“Another half a second one way or the other and we wouldn’t be talking about this,” he said.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash.

After the investigation is complete, the report will be turned over to the Tuscola County Prosecutor’s office for review.
