Caro Curves moving to new location

CARO -- There will be a lot more elbow room when a Caro business opens Monday in a new location.

Curves is moving to the former Sheardy’s Rental facility at 1234 West Caro Rd. (M-81) from 852 South Hooper St. in Caro.

“We have a lot more room here,” said Caro Curves owner Jennifer Stark.

Curves is the largest fitness franchise in the world with 10,000 locations worldwide, including five in Tuscola County - Caro, Cass City, Reese, Mayville and Millington. Curves is designed for women, and women only.

Curves is the first fitness and weight loss facility dedicated to providing affordable, one-stop exercise and nutritional information for women, according to Stark.

Workouts are for 30 minutes with a combine of cardio workout with strength training, which burns an average of 500 calories.

Combining the two, especially the strength training aspect, is really important for weight loss, arthritis, flexibility, and helps prevent heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.

Besides exercising, Curves offers several nutritional programs so members can select the best fit for their lifestyle.

Curves will only use a portion of the building.

“On the other side I plan to offer pilates, kick boxing, and belly dancing,” said Stark. “That’s not part of Curves but it will be in the same building. They will be in two separate rooms.”

During the summer, Curves is open Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 a.m. and the rest of the days at 6 a.m., and closes each night at 7:30 p.m. expect for Friday, when at 7 p.m is the closing time.

The cost for a membership varies between $30 to $40 per month.
