MILLINGTON ‹ No, Millington isn’t fast forwarding five months or turning into a smaller version of the city of Frankenmuth. It’s celebrating its 36th annual summer festival and this year’s theme happens to be an Old Fashioned Christmas.

As a result, residents are being asked to drag out the holiday decorations early this year and get into the mood.

Organizers of the festival are encouraging residents to decorate their porches and yards for the event and possibly win a prize.

House displays need to be completed by 10 a.m., Aug. 6, to be judged. A panel will randomly visit homes that day beginning at 10:15 a.m.

"The criteria for judging is Display Keeping with Theme, 1-20 points; Originality, 1-20 points; and Old Fashioned Attire, 1-20 points," festival organizers said.

Prizes will be awarded at the Bus Stop Tent, on Aug. 7 at 6:45 p.m.
