MILLINGTON -- Clayton Betzing needs a favor. The Millington resident is trying to put faces to names in old Millington High School yearbooks and, despite managing to salvage a number of class photographs, he’s still missing some years.
"It’s quite an undertaking, I know," Betzing said. "But wouldn’t you rather look at old photographs alongside a name?"
Betzing’s starting point for the new collection is a previously published book, “The First 100 Millington Graduating Classes.” Put together by Rita Thayer and Sherry Lowell and published first in 1990 with a reprint in 1994, the book is extremely helpful, Betzing said.
"I’d like to have class pictures to go with the lists in the books," he explained. "I’m looking for pre-1916, also 1917 and 1918. I’ve got some of the pictures during the war years, but again, there are quite a few gaps."
Betzing said he really wants to go as far back as he can and has set a cut-off year of 1950. "I think that would have to be a second project; this one will keep me busy for awhile," he added.
So, if you know of, or own, or think you may have seen some old class photographs, contact Betzing.
You can reach him at (989) 871-9956 or by e-mail at cbetzing69@tds.net.
"I would really appreciate the community’s help on this project," Betzing said. "I think it’s important."
