MILLINGTON Â-- If you’ve admired someone’s garden, amazed at how colorful and striking it is, and wanted to tell them but didn’t know how, now’s your chance.
The GFWC Millington Junior Women’s Club is sponsoring a Yard of the Month event that gives people the opportunity to nominate their favorite garden for the monthly honor.
Nominating forms are available at various sites throughout the village, including the Millington Arbela District Library, Millington Floral, Rosati’s Marketplace, and Fairway Store.
At the end of each month, the nomination forms will be gathered up and the garden with the most votes will have a sign placed in its yard, announcing the award.
Jodi Dean, president of the women’s club, said they plan to conduct the monthly drawings through October. At the end of October, those selected for the monthly honor will have their names thrown into a hat and the name drawn will win several prizes that will include wind chimes, birdhouses or other yard decorations.
"We’re beginning this month, July, and we really hope everyone participates," Dean said. "It’s nice to recognize someone’s love of their garden."
Gardens can be located in the village or the township.
