CARO ‹ A fire that occured Aug. 8 has been determined to be caused by arson.
On Aug. 8, at approximately 3:49 a.m., a fire was reported at 129 S. Hooper St.
The Caro Fire Department and Mayville Fire Department were at the scene for two hours at the residential house fire, which was extinguished.
The house was unoccupied at the time.
A reported $60,000 in damages occurred, with $40,000 in structural damage and $20,000 in content.
Further investigation by the Caro Police Department and the Michigan State Police has determined that the fire was an arson. The investigation is continuing.
There is a reward program for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever perpetrated the arson.
No further information is being released at this time.
