Joe Gutierrez Torrez of Bay City (formerly of Caro), age 54, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. Joe was born March 1, 1965, in Brownfield, Texas, the son of Ramona (Gutierrez) Stoick and Jose Torrez II. He enlisted with the U.S. Army at the age of 17, serving for eight years. Following his honorable discharge, Joe began a 12-year career with Grede Foundry in Vassar that lasted until the plant’s closing. He later took on roofing jobs and worked as a hazardous materials truck driver. Joe will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, always willing to go without so someone else didn’t have to. He had a work ethic that was never-ending, but spent his spare time rooting for the New England Patriots, fishing, hunting, and watching NASCAR. His favorite days were those that were spent spoiling his granddaughter, Ariana, and always looked forward to “Maddie Days.”
