April M. Ahren

On Friday, May 18, 2018, our beloved April passed away peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Florida. April was born on December 30, 1959 to Haven and Ruth (Cousins) Ahern, the first of four children. She graduated from Kingston High School, Class of 1978. April then chose to attend Delta College receiving an Associate Degree in Accounting. Motivated to be successfully, she enrolled in classes at Walsh College – Troy, receiving her Bachelor Degree in Accounting in 1994. She was so very proud of her accomplishments, as was her family.
April was such a beautiful soul. She saw the goodness in so many people but had very little tolerance for laziness. Her expectations were very high for herself and she expected that of others as well. If you were lucky enough to be a part of her life, you were very blessed.
April loved to travel and navigated several times to the Virgin Islands, Caribbean Islands, Hawaiian Islands, Key West – a total of 35 island visited and explored. She was also a licensed scuba diver.
Even though she had moved to Florida, April was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan and followed them every season. She loved Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks and her beloved Shelties – Patch, Pearl, Piper, Skye and Rose.
Along with her parents, she left to cherish her memory two brothers: Jim (Susan) Ahern of Caro, Dave (Shari) Ahern of Kingston and one sister, Audrey (Larry) Smith of Deford. She is also survived by three children, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, a very special cousin, Pam Tyll of Cass City and special friend Tina Antinoro of Stuart, Florida.
There will be a memorial service for April on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Village Park in Kingston. To honor April’s love of the islands, the family would like to ask that those in attendance wear tropical/Hawaiian attire to the service if possible.
