Helen Marie Koral Schack of Felton, Delaware, formerly of Caro, age 90, passed away on July 1, 2014 at Capitol Nursing and Rehab Center in Dover, Delaware. Helen was born October 9, 1923 in Detroit, the daughter of the late John and Victoria (Wojtalik) Koral. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and lived in Caro and Fairgrove until moving to Delaware to live with her son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Shellie, from 1983-2011. She has been a resident of Capitol Rehabilitation and Health Center in Dover, Delaware for the past three years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, and Holy Cross Church in Dover, Delaware. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and especially making afghans and quilts for her family. Helen enjoyed traveling, especially the two trips that she and her sisters took to Belgium and Poland to meet relatives and discover those beautiful countries. In October of 2013, Helen celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends from all over the United States, and with relatives coming from Belgium and Poland. It was a wonderful reunion weekend and celebration of Helen’s 90 years. She is survived by her sister, Rose Mantey of Fairgrove; three children, Matthew (Jim) Schack and his wife, Shellie, of Felton, Delaware, Vicki A. Thompson and husband, Greg, of Clayton, North Carolina, and Marlene H. Zaglowski and husband, Carl, of Erie, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Eric Heinzman, Christina Hoffman, Barbara Anderson, Patricia Davis, Kelley E. Schack, and Dennis W. Schack and his wife, Casey; six great-grandchildren, Sydona Heinzman, Zachary Hoffman, Veronica Davis, Brooklyn Schack, Madison Schack and Parker Schack; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew; son, Dennis; brother, William; sister, Stephana Hunter; and granddaughter, Kristen Schack. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Helen’s name to the Activities Dept., c/o Capitol Rehabilitation and Health Center, 1225 Walker Rd., Dover, DE 19901.
