Dorothy Borden Miller, age 95 years, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Edith (Hutchins) Stein. Dorothy was born on July 14, 1918 on Akron Road in Tuscola County. She married George Orville Miller on December 5, 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1995. During WWII, she worked at the Vassar Foundry. After the war she worked at Bron Mar, Dykehouse Pickles and Mayville Molding. Dorothy loved to sew, do friends’ hair and dance. After retirement, square dancing became Dorothy and George’s passion. Together they spent 18 winters in Bradenton, Florida, and 2 winters in Yuma, Arizona. Surviving are her children: Linda (Jake) Brown and George (Carol) Miller; a daughter-in-law: Janet Miller; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and one brother: James Stein. Dorothy was preceded in death by her oldest son: Larry Miller; three sisters: Mamie, Millie and Esther; four brothers: Ferdinand, Ed, Ray and Lester; and two grandchildren: Doreen and John. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar. The Rev. Cathy Christman officiating. Burial will follow at Juniata Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
