CHARLES ELMER HUNT Caro

Passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 28, 2013 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, at the age of 85. He was born Oct. 25, 1927 in Caro, the son of the late Edgar and Gertrude L. (Flansburg) Hunt and was a lifelong area resident. Following graduation from high school, Chuck served with the U.S. Army in Europe and later was called back to service in Korea. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked in the Chicago Post Office for a brief period. In his return to Caro, Chuck held a variety of jobs before he started his career as a life insurance agent. Chuck was a member of Caro United Methodist Church. He also was a life member and Past Master of Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F&AM, Caro Chapter #96 R.A.M., the Bay City Scottish Rite, the Bay City Elks Club for several years, the Caro VFW Post #4164 and had served on the Caro Fire Department for many years. Chuck is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Clayton ‘Clay’ Hunt on Dec. 26, 2009; Clay’s mother, Velma Hunt on Jan. 7, 2013 and two sisters, Leona Cookenmaster and Mayree Harms. In respect of his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 at Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating, immediately followed by a Masonic Memorial Service. Military honors provided by the Caro VFW Post #4164 and the U.S. Army will follow. The family will receive friends at Caro United Methodist Church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility Forget-Me-Nots.
