SARAH OLIVE, Oxford
Passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012 at Lake Orion Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Lake Orion, at the age of 91. She was born on March 1, 1920 in Pulaski, TN, where she grew up on a farm with two brothers and four sisters. She moved to Michigan in the 1940s and lived mostly in Drayton Plains in Waterford Township, as well as in Caro and Oxford. Sarah had been married to Hugh Olive for 71 years, and together they had two daughters, Connie Benedict and Brenda McManus; two sons, Fred and Cheryl Olive and Dick Olive; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She worked in Pontiac at the former Pontiac Motor Division, as well as taking care of her family. She had been a lifelong member of the Methodist and Baptist churches, and enjoyed reading the Bible. Sarah and Hugh spent 30 years living in Michigan in the summer, then residing in Zephyrhills, FL in the winter. She enjoyed baking, sewing, cooking and gardening. Sarah also enjoyed going to church, doing crafts and painting, but most importantly, being with her family. She was very proud of all her children and grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, Feb. 17 at Caro First Baptist Church, 1535 Gilford Rd. in Caro, with Rev. Ronald Wigand officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at noon. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery.
