ARBELA TOWNSHIP — According to a press release from the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police cadaver dogs located a victim inside the Sergent Road residence which was destroyed by fire on Friday.
The body of Jon Matthew Corba, 51, was located inside the burned out home, located at 9685 Sergent Road, in Arbela Township. An autopsy, which was conducted on Monday, showed the victim died as a result of suicide, noted a press release from Tuscola County Undersheriff Glen Skrent.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the fire at approximately 1:16 p.m. Friday. The Millington-Arbela Fire Department, Vassar Fire Department, Richville Fire Department, Frankenmuth Fire Department, Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal assisted at the scene.
The case remains under investigation and the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting information from the State Fire Marshal.
