ALMER CHARTER TOWNSHIP — For months, motorists driving through the intersection at M-81 and Deckerville Road may have noticed the beginnings of a new business to the area called GrowMart.
Well, GrowMart has officially opened for business.
Andrew Hiser, the owner, held a soft-opening for the Caro store, his second location, on Monday and will celebrate a grand opening on Sept. 1.
“I had spread the word that I would be opening on Aug. 15 and had several people waiting in the parking lot when I first got here,” Hiser said. “We had a couple hundred of dollars in sales on our first day even.”
GrowMart, located at 1578 Remington Rd., aims to provide indoor/outdoor grow products, minus the plants and seeds.
“We have everything you need to grow, start-to-finish,” he explained. “Nutrients for indoor/outdoor application, ventilation systems and supplies, bulbs and soil. We have everything for any growing medium, either soil or hydroponics.”
Hiser just celebrated his one-year anniversary for his first location in Saginaw, located at 2123 Warwick St., and has plans to open more locations in the future, possibly Bad Axe.
With future plans for GrowMart to expand, Hiser also would like to see the chain get involved into the dispensary business.
“There is nothing out here in the Thumb for medical marijuana patients. They either have to go to Bay City or that place in Richville,” he said. “Eventually, I would like to turn this into a dispensary, with a certified doctor on staff, but I’ll have to wait until things settle down and straighten out with the current law.”
The store is open Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. -7 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. -5 p.m., and Sundays, 1-5 p.m.
You can check out the store’s website at www.growmartmi.com or call at (989) 673-GROW (4769).
