Alcohol may be factor in Sunday crash

TUSCOLA COUNTY – Tuscola County sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate a two-vehicle accident that injured five people on Sunday, May 30.
The accident occurred around 2 p.m. on M-25 near Vassar Road in Wisner Township.
According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s department, Christopher Rice, 20, of Saginaw was driving west on M-25 when he struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Robin Austin, 46, of Kawkawlin.
Austin had three family members with her, a 52-year-old male, a 13-year old and a 12-year old.
Everyone involved in the accident was injured; two were transported by helicopter to Saginaw, the others by ambulance.
Their condition remains unknown as of Tuesday morning.
According to the press release, Tuscola County Central Dispatch had received a call of a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner just prior to the collision. Alcohol may have been a factor. They are awaiting lab results.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by MMR, ACW ambulance, Flightcare and the fire departments from Fairgrove and Unionville.
The crash remains under investigation pending lab results.
